Christmas in July?

Sunday morning as I reflected on how Donald Trump was miraculously spared from death Saturday evening at the rally in Pennsylvania, I was worshipping and thanking God.

Often when I am doing that I sit down at the piano in my bedroom and play out of my head as I feel led.  I started with “Holy, Holy, Holy,” then went to “’Tis so Sweet to Trust in Jesus,” then “Jesus Loves Me,” then “Is He Worthy?” sort of in a medley with riffs of my own in between, BUT then, I couldn’t resist the urge to play “Joy to the World!”  It isn’t something I usually play outside of Christmas time.

As I was singing the lyrics along with the playing in my mind, when I came to the last verse, my leading to play this particular hymn in the wake of this particular event made perfect sense:

“He rules the world with truth and grace

And makes the nations prove

The glories of His righteousness

And wonders of His love

And wonders of His love

And wonders and wonders of His love”

I was also reminded of this passage in the Psalms that had spoken to me strongly earlier last week:

“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me;

You will stretch forth Your hand against the wrath of my enemies,

And Your right hand will save me.

The LORD will accomplish what concerns me;

Your lovingkindness, O LORD, is everlasting;

Do not forsake the work of Your hands.”

Psalm 138:7, 8

Based on that powerful passage, I sang this little ditty while jumping on my trampoline:

“The LORD will accomplish what concerns me

The LORD will accomplish what concerns me

The LORD will accomplish what concerns me

I go into my day on this!

“The LORD will accomplish what concerns me

The LORD will accomplish what concerns me

The LORD will accomplish what concerns me

I'll drift into my night on this!”

What is concerning you today?  Take God at his Word and give it to Him.  He will accomplish what concerns you.  You have His Word on that.

In spite of the calamity we see all around us, He rules the world with truth and grace, and one day we will see clear exactly how he will make the nations prove the glories of His righteousness and the wonders of His love.

Very well expressed Becky, with the times that we are in! It surely has shocked our nation, but GOD is in control so we can rest in that, & that is so comforting!

That last verse of Psalms 138 is heavy with meaning for any true faithful of the Lord: "The Lord will fulfil his purpose for me..." (NIV) is a statement of surrender as a vessel in the hands of a master workman. Often, we are at a loss tossed and turned about by the issues of life, and we know not what cometh...but we can trust in Him, if we know Him, that He remains in control, and that He in the end knows the end from the beginning and we are only obedient vessels in the beautiful story of His wonderful love for all mankind - even the enemy He promises to stretch His hands to guard as against! How…

Thank you, and thank YOU for this inspiring message! Yes, Jonah was so angry after God saved the inhabitants of Ninevah. And God said, "Should I not have compassion on Ninevah, the great city in which there are more than 120,000 persons who do not know the difference betwen their right and left hand, as well as many animals? (Job 4:11). Our God is a God of compassion. "The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, and rich in love." (Ps 145:8-9) Have a wonderful day, and let's let ALL that is within us bless His holy name!
