Beware the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR)
As early as the first writings of the apostle Paul, he was warning about those peddling "another gospel," which is really not another gospel; there is no other gospel. Today many churches - even those that have been considered mainstream Evangelical - are peddling heresies that stroke the ego, jumble up the order of things as set forth in the scriptures, disgrace the name of the Holy Spirit by crediting Him with preposterous things He is not doing, and in the process leading many astray. I observed firsthand the false doctrine of the NAR when asked to help with the music ministry of a local church a few years ago. It was a look into a different world and one I am eager to warn everyone against. As a musician, I have been into the contemporary Christian music scene for many years, serving formally on staff in two churches as worship leader and in various capacities in other churches over the years. Bethel Music, Hillsong United, Elevation Worship are a few of the major bands taking the stage in this realm and driving "Christian music." All three of them embrace anti-biblical heresies of these kinds. However, their music is so popular, their influence is infiltrating many otherwise doctrinally sound churches. Beware! I have personally read all of these books and can highly recommend them.
What is the New Apostolic Reformation or the New Apostolic Age? Where have all the apostles in the Body of Christ come from? Are they the ones that will bring heaven down to earth? Will the Local Church be replaced by Apostolic Centers? Will these apostles transform culture and take the 7 Mountains? What is formal alignment? Have you or your church been aligned? Are end-time judgments coming or is everything going to get better now that the apostles are restored? By examining the method and message of the current apostolic movement, this book uncovers the true foundation of the Church and the agenda of the Father in the last days. By speaking the truth in love, it dissolves the clouds of ignorance used by the enemy to tranquilize the Church and lead her astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.
Is there a new reformation happening in the church? It depends on who you ask.
The New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) is a popular and fast-growing new movement of Christians who emphasize signs and wonders and teach that God is giving new revelation through new apostles and prophets. But is this biblical Christianity?
In Counterfeit Kingdom, apologists and NAR experts Holly Pivec and Douglas Geivett show how the NAR’s key tenets distort the gospel, twist the Scriptures, are influenced by New Age practices, and lead faithful Christians to shipwreck their faith. They also offer practical suggestions for readers who are already influenced by the NAR, curious about it, or concerned about loved ones who have been swept up in the movement. What used to be on the fringes of the church is now mainstream, and many are being influenced by it unaware. This book is a wake-up call.
Beware of the New Apostolic Reformation: Narrow is the Way -- Have You Really Found It?
We have combined two of our best-selling booklets into one, newly revised and updated version.
Volume One -- Beware of the New Apostolic Reformation. A booklet written to inform and expose the unbiblical beliefs and practices of the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR). This book is a powerful tool to inform believers about the hidden agenda of the NAR -- a network of thousands of churches and ministries that have been globally deceiving the body of Christ with their heretical practices.
Volume Two -- a collection of dynamic testimonies of nine believers from three countries who, in spite of geographic location, have come together with a common purpose -- to share and expose their troubling experiences with the New Apostolic Reformation. Learn about the hurtful and sometimes abusive treatment these believers encountered when they began asking questions of their church leaders and what happened as they tried to leave.
This is a must-read for every Christian because it will help you decide for yourselves -- to either receive the "new extra-biblical revelation" of the NAR or to believe the Word of God.
Strange Fire: The Danger of Offending the Holy Spirit with Counterfeit Worship
What would God say about those who blatantly misrepresent His Holy Spirit; who exchange true worship for chaotic fits of mindless ecstasy; who replace the biblical gospel with vain illusions of health and wealth; who claim to prophesy in His name yet speak errors; and who sell false hope to desperate people for millions of dollars? The charismatic movement has always been a breeding-ground for scandal, greed, bad doctrine, and all kinds of spiritual chicanery. As a movement, it is clearly headed the wrong direction. And it is growing at an unprecedented rate. From the Word of Faith to the New Apostolic Reformation, the Charismatic movement is being consumed by the empty promises of the prosperity gospel. Too many charismatic celebrities promote a “Christianity” without Christ, a Holy Spirit without holiness. And their teaching is having a disastrous influence on a grand scale, as large television networks broadcast their heresies to every part of the world. In Strange Fire, bestselling author and pastor John MacArthur chronicles the unsavory history behind the modern Charismatic movement. He lays out a chilling case for rejecting its false prophets, speaking out against their errors, showing true reverence to the Holy Spirit, and above all clinging to the Bible as the inerrant, authoritative Word of God and the one true standard by which all truth claims must be tested.
The entire Strange Fire Conference sponsored by Grace Community Church back in 2014 is excellent. To the right is John MacArthur's kick-off. Here is the link to the entire conference so you can view in order of presentation.

From John MacArthur
"When people ask me, “What’s the biggest problem in the church?” I always say the same thing: The absence of discernment. That is the biggest problem in the church because if you can’t discern the truth with the Word of God in your hand, with the Bible in your hand, if you can’t discern the truth, you can die of 1,000 heresies. It’s like having spiritual AIDS. People who have a deficient immune system can die of 1,000 illnesses. The church can die of 1,000 heresies if it can’t exercise discernment. This is always the issue.

It is very evident that a massive part of professing Christianity lacks discernment. And so the effort in this conference these days - and with my dear friends who are going to be sharing in opening the Word of God to you and speaking to you - is to help you to be discerning.

We know there are people who are in this movement who are deceivers, and they know they’re deceivers. They’re false teachers, and they know they’re false teachers. They’re in it for the money, and they know they’re in it for the money.
We also know there are people caught up in the movement who are deceived and may not know they are deceived. They are brands that need to be snatched from the burning, to borrow the words from Jude. There are leaders who need to be confronted and exposed, and there are unwitting leaders who need to be helped and encouraged and know the truth."
